SUPPORT OF GOOD SHEPHERD SCHOOL POLICY STATEMENT
Good Shepherd Catholic School Education Ministry including Good Shepherd School exists in order to assist parents in passing on their Catholic Faith to their children. Catholic School Education is a prime way to fulfill Jesus’ command to “TEACH ALL NATIONS”. No student of an “actively participating family” of Good Shepherd Parish will be denied a Catholic School Education if the following faith stance is lived fully.
Good Shepherd Parish is able to meet our parish budget for our many ministries through the tithing and sacrificial giving of ALL of our people. Parishioners are encouraged to tithe 10% of their income.
As this pertains to families with children enrolled in Catholic School Education the following has been determined.
Families are required to tithe toward the support of Good Shepherd’s ministries and other charities.
Where a family finds their tithe to Good Shepherd will be problematic, the family must contact the Parish Compliance Committee. The Compliance Committee will verify from submitted documentation that an offering of a lesser “sacrifical gift” would indeed be appropriate. The family and the Compliance Committee will agree upon a lesser amount as a proper “sacrificial gift”.
In addition to tithing, an actively participating family:
· is required to worship every week (this is a Church law), preferably at Good Shepherd Parish; and
· is to be involved in Good Shepherd Parish (e.g.: P.T.O., Bingo, Summer Social, various ministries in the Church).
God has assured us that when we PUT GOD FIRST, we will not only have enough time, talent, and treasure for ourselves, but enough to help others as well. We can never outdo God in generosity. If a family has financial problems as a result of tithing, Good Shepherd stands ready to assist.
