August 25, 2021 – Sent on behalf of Bishop Joseph M. Siegel – COVID-19 Update

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Thank you for your ongoing efforts to minimize the impact of COVID pandemic across the Diocese of Evansville. Regrettably, as we all know, the rate of COVID infections has significantly increased in our region. For example, to date, our 26 Catholic schools have reported over 100 positive cases since school began earlier this month, compared to less than 10 cases last year at this time. This surge has necessitated changes to our Diocesan COVID-19 Guidelines.  The revised guidelines are attached and I ask that you carefully review them.  I am grateful to our Diocesan Reopening Committee for their work on this challenging effort.

I realize that these increased protections may not be popular with all sections of our Diocese and that you will probably receive much of the feedback.  Please know of my support and that of our Diocesan Directors and be sure to contact us if we can be of assistance.

May the Lord continue to bless you, your work and those you serve.  You are in my prayers each day and I ask for remembrance in yours.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Bishop Siegel
