Is Christ Calling You To Become a Deacon?
God is calling on each of us to serve one another in charity and love. Some men are receiving a particular invitation from God to serve Christ and His Church in ordained ministry as Permanent Deacons.
Deacons have a unique identity as neither a lay person nor a priest. Through the sacramental grace of Holy Orders, deacons are conformed into the image of Christ the Servant. In communion with Bishop Siegel and his body of priests, deacons serve to build up the community of faith among God’s people through Word, sacrament and especially works of charity.
Our diocesan permanent deacons have greatly enriched our diocese by offering their lives in service in many of our parishes, hospitals, correction facilities and nursing homes as well as through outreach ministries to the homeless, the poor and hungry and the lonely and through many other ministries of charity.
If you might be interested in learning more, there are information meetings at the Catholic Center in Evansville on Saturday, December fourth at 9:00 AM and January eighth at 9:00 AM. 2021/10/28 Updated Protocols for Good Shepherd Catholic School and Church
Dear Good Shepherd Families,
Good evening!
Thank you for your support and encouragement of our collective efforts to keep students in school this fall.
As you know, we have been closely monitoring the county metrics as communicated on the ISDH (Indiana State Department of Health) Covid Dashboard on a weekly basis. The Diocese of Evansville published Covid-19 Protocols associated with the categories on the dashboard (red, orange, yellow, blue) which our schools have been following since August 16.
Currently, we are in the yellow category effective Thursday, October 28 through Wednesday, November 3. At this time, masks will become optional, though highly recommended. Parents choosing to send their children to school in masks may reduce the number of students required to quarantine due to being a close contact. We will continue other preventative strategies when possible to reduce possible spread of the virus (sanitizing, distancing).
One of the frequently asked questions we’ve received recently is “If my child is fully vaccinated, is he/she required to quarantine as a close contact?”
According to the IDOH (Indiana Department of Health), if a student is fully vaccinated and remains symptom free he/she is not required to quarantine if determined to be a close contact.

Good Shepherd Catholic Church: Effective Thursday, October 28, 2021:
In response to Vanderburgh County moving to yellow on the Indiana COVID-19 Dashboard and Map, Good Shepherd Catholic Church will continue mirroring indoor school protocols during established timeframes for Masses and other indoor church activities.
During the current week, 10/28 to 11/03, Masks become OPTIONAL.
