SURVIVING THE HOLIDAYS WITH A LOSS – Grieving the loss of a loved one is never easy, but it’s especially difficult during the holidays. Good Shepherd Parish (2301 N. Stockwell Road) will be hosting “How to Survive the Holidays” on Tuesday, October 15, from 6:15-8:00 pm in the Church Conference room. There is no need to register and there is no cost to attend. RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) – Are you, or someone you know, a person who wonders why Catholics do the things they do? Been discerning an interest in becoming Catholic? Was baptized Catholic as a child, but has not celebrated the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist? Or has a child over the age of seven who has not baptized? Or just been away from the faith for awhile? Then RCIA could be the answer. GriefShare – Your bereavement experience may be recent or not so recent. You will find encouragement, comfort and help in grieving the death of a spouse, child, parent, sibling, other family member, or friend. No matter what the cause of your loved one’s death, this is an opportunity to be around people who understand what you are feeling. You will learn how to recognize the symptoms of being stuck in grief and that you do not need to live in bondage to certain emotions. You will learn valuable information about facing your new normal in life and renewing your hope for the future. Confidentiality is a major part of this program.
The next 13-week session will begin on Tuesday, September 10, from 6:15-8:00 pm in the Church conference room. There is no fee to attend.
Our Good Shepherd Adult Choir is seeking new members for the upcoming season. We practice on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:00, and minister at the 10:30am Mass on Sundays from September to June. We sing for significant liturgical occasions such as Christmas Eve, Holy Week and other Holy Days. Our first practice will be on August 21st, at 6:30pm in the church. We accept members of all choral experience, and the choir is open to members ages 16 and older. Please contact Melanie Baker at mbaker@evdio.org if you are interested.
